On the last blog I showed the lizard on the bloom stalk, eating the dew or insects.

Last night one of the blooms opened.

Daylilies today

My daylilies are struggling-- they prefer a drier soil than what they are getting. Ed has the watering system sprinkling every morning and he starts it while it's still dark. Most of the yard does well on this routine, but daylilies and roses don't. They suffer from rust and blackspot. Oh well, I guess I have to take a little of the bad with the good!

The cactus that is hanging in my greenhouse bloomed last night. You all wanted to see the bloom, so here it is. The bloom is about 6" in dia.

Rainy day review

Yesterday the crew, who will be working on the day of the "Garden Tour" next Saturday, had a "mini-tour" of the featured gardens. There was a BUNCH of them! Everyone praised our efforts and exclaimed that it was beautiful. Thanks to all of you! It's so much pleasure to share it!

Well, thank heavens for the rain. This area really needed it. Although our yard gets watered by well water, the land really needed a good soaking-- and it got it!
It's too wet to get out yet, so I thought I would review some of my older pictures and post them for your viewing pleasure.

Do any of you have interest in African Violets? I have a few. At one time I had several, but reduced my inventory to these:

Tour of the garden

Today, Ed helped me to tour his garden. The area is on the sloping side of the yard and my wheelchair sometimes gets to going sideways when I try to travel the area. So, he showed me his greenbeans (which are ready to pick), the hybrid blackberries (enough to feed Chickasaw), grapes, figs, varities of squash, potatoes, peaches and several other fruit trees that are putting on fruit. He has beautiful leaf lettuce and tomatoes growing everywhere. We'll be eating well this summer! We already have been eating lettuce, strawberries and potatoes.
